Longton Referendum Results The People Have Spoken
The longton E.u. referendum debate Over 70 people attended the EU debate at the Club on 13 June where the 4 guest speakers each excellently set out their cases for the Remain and Leave camps. There was then a lively 45 minutes of Q & As, before each speaker  summed- up. As a “fun” element, as people arrived, they were asked to complete a pre-debate voting slip, and at the end of the debate, those people who had been persuaded to change their mind by the discussion, were invited to complete another voting slip indicating their new choice. See below for the  details of the results, and the general conclusion to be drawn is that Longton & its environs are generally in favour of leaving the EU, but that it is still a close call, especially with a number of people yet to make up their minds.

Voluntary collections were made as people arrived, with the money going towards the Club President John Suther`s Defibrilator Charity Fund (Final Figure To Be Added). Thanks to all who came along and made it a very informative and entertaining evening. We are now thinking about an England Out of Euro 2016 party, as surely the impossible dream can`t come true……..can it? Suggestions on a £5 note please towards the Charity Fund.
