At Last…. The Return Of Movie Night - “The Choral” Sunday 12 April A World War 1 period drama set in a fictional Yorkshire town where the men are too old or too young to fight and the women are taking on the men's roles in place of the men of fighting age who have gone off to war. The arrival of Dr Henry Guthrie to take over the choral society for its annual production, whilst arousing some suspicion when it is discovered he used to live in Germany, soon brings the community together. This World War 1 period drama, set in a fictional Yorkshire town, is a feel-good film with strong performances and beautiful music. Starring Ralph Fiennes and written by the inimitable Alan Bennett with his trademark wit, the film blends humour and humanity against a backdrop of war and uncertainty.
